Successful Visit By Top Premier League & FIFA Official
On Thursday 19th November 2009 Top Premier League & FIFA Official Martin Atkinson visited the society to a huge crowd of eager referees wanting to learn from one of this countries top officials. Martian gave us a thrilling discussion on how he and his team approaches a UEFA fixture and what is involved. Martin gave us a great insight into the mind set of the top officials. The floor then opened to questions which gave our members a chance to ask questions on the night and in general. The evening finished with our President George McKellar presenting Martin with a momentous Bishop Auckland Referees Society glass and something to put in it!
Steve Riley Memorial Trophy
On Thursday 20th August 2009 Secretary, Terry Farley was presented with the Steve Riley Memorial Trophy by Vikki Riley. Terry said he was honoured to receive the trophy, the third time it has been presented to a member of the society.
Successful Visit By Top Flight FIFA Official
On Thursday the 23rd of April 2009, FIFA Referee Mike Riley paid a welcome visit to our society. Mike’s address kept a large captive audience enthralled for over an hour, in which he covered his rise from grassroots football to his present status as a FIFA Referee. He made excellent use of a series of video clips, mainly from World & European cup games, to illustrate the ups and downs of the international referee. A vote of thanks was proposed by our society president George McKellar.
Top Flight FIFA & Premier League Referees Visit Triumphed As A Huge Success
The society and its members were delighted to welcome Howard Webb one of the worlds leading referees to the society’s November meetings. With a jam packed room Howard presented his refereeing career to us and talked about his experiences in the premier league and his adventure to Euro 2008. Howard fill us full of joy about his career and he was thoroughly entertaining and we would just like to say a big thank you to Howard and his farther for travelling straight up from Heathrow Airport to be guest at out November meeting. Pictured above is our beloved President George McKellar presenting Howard with an Engraved Tumbler as a memento to his visit to Bishop Auckland Referees’ Society.
Respect Campaign Success
The Respect Campaign that came to our society was a great success. John Topping from Durham FA delivered it to over 50 match officials on the night and it gave us chance to ask questions about the campaign and to go through and see how the campaign is going to progress in the future. It also gave us as match officials an idea of what we need to be doing at game to help the campaign along.

Welcome to our brand new fantastic website that has been created for the members of Bishop Auckland Referees’ Society and the rest of the public who would like to find out more information about us and also about refereeing. Please take a look round and see what you think, and over the next few months more and more information will be uploaded including training material for referees to help them in continuous training. There will also be presentations that you will be able to download and look through as well as Reporting Misconduct Forms that you will also be able to download.
